# Jira

> Connect Jira to Modus so your scopes have context from your projects and issues.

Connect Jira so your projects, issues, and comments become context that Modus
can reason over. Jira connects over **OAuth** (Atlassian) — see
[Connecting apps](/guides/connect-apps) for the general flow.

## Who can connect

Anyone can connect by default, and Modus only ever sees what the connecting user
can access — so connect as a user with access to the projects you want. If your
Atlassian organization has **Block user apps** enabled, an **organization or site
admin** must authorize Modus first.

## Connect

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start the connection">
    In [Modus](https://app.getmodus.com), go to **Integrations**, find **Jira**
    under **Task Management** (it's also in **Most Popular**), and click **Connect**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authorize with Atlassian">
    Sign in with Atlassian, choose the **site** to connect, and approve access in
    the popup.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose projects">
    Back in Modus, select the **projects** Modus should use as context.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What Modus can access

Modus requests read-oriented access to your Jira projects, issues, comments, and
related metadata. Exact OAuth scopes are managed by Modus's Atlassian
configuration.

This is a **workspace** connection shared across your Modus organization.
